| what a glorious existence in which we participate!
God keeps pouring out the blessings.
things are so good. the underoath/chariot/these arms are snakes show last night was some of the most fun i've had in a while. almost as fun as wednesday night after the show, we (amanda b. and i) went to eat at the dwarf house with some of the guys from underoath and the chariot. and concert mom. i got home at 3am, talked to my new best friend, and had a good night.
and take a look at this! it's a bulletin that aireline posted on myspace:
"hello everyone. as you've probably heard by now, aireline will no longer be continuing together. that is the bad news. the good news is that singer/pianist/guitarist mason frenzel is currently in the process of putting together a new project that will take over the reigns where aireline left off. this new project, while yet unnamed, is currently putting together material for their first album which may in fact include the new material that aireline was working on at the time of their disbandment. so fear not aireline fans....this is not the end, but just the beginning. keep checking back for up to the date news on the new project as more develops."
yes!!1
i'll keep you guys informed
tonight is gonna be the best. love takes flight at swayze's with really neat people. i cant wait.
i might be driving an old-ish mazda minivan temporarily until i find a car for myself. i drove it this morning. it's pretty awesome. | | |
| human life is unimaginably precious.
my mom picked me up from a gas station (this, i will explain at the end of this entry) and told me about something that almost made me cry.
[for some background, there is a girl that was in my homeroom when we were in highschool. her brother was on the wrestling team at that school. their mom was my little sister's first grade teacher.]
this boy was recently in a devastating car crash. he was hit on the driver's side, which sent him into a few 360-degree spins, then his car flipped a couple times. he's been in intensive care for a couple weeks. the doctors said his family would have to bathe him and do other basic things for him because they expected his movement abilities to be minimal when he re-gained consciousness. however, his mom conducted several mental stimulation exercises with him while he was in his hospital bed. suddenly, he woke up and spoke. she then asked him simple questions that would require him to use various parts of his brain. he responded correctly and quickly. then she had him execute some simple motor stills, such as pointing to specific things in the room. he did so. then his sister came into the hospital room, and he identified her by name. the nurse then asked him how he knew her and who she was, and he said "sister." this is far beyond what the doctors had expected. they said only a miracle could save him, and they are now saying that they are seeing these miracles take place.
this makes me hate everything that is insignificant. here's something that C.S. Lewis said in his book, The Weight of Glory:
"indeed, if we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. we are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. we are far too easily pleased."
it's too true to ignore. please discard the things that dont matter. everything worth anything is worth too much to hold on to the things that dont.
the reason my mom picked me up from a gas station is because my car's transmission went out when i was driving home from class. it'll be an inconvenience. i'll need to figure out a way to get to work and school, but you know what? it doesn't matter that much. God knows it happened. He knows how the situation will be resolved. i dont, and that's ok.
God is good. | | |
